Grand Theft Auto V still has one of the most complete cheat systems Rockstar has ever shipped, and every code below works on every version of the game — PC, PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Xbox Series X|S and Xbox One. There are 35 cheats in total: 15 that change your character, 6 that change the world around you, and 14 that spawn a vehicle next to you.
Two things are worth knowing before you start. Cheats only work in single-player story mode — none of them work in GTA Online, and trying them there can get your account banned. And the moment you enter any cheat, achievements and trophies are switched off; they come back as soon as you reload a save or restart the game.

How to Enter Cheats
There are three ways to enter a cheat in GTA 5. The in-game cell phone is the only method that works everywhere, so it is the safest option if a button combo refuses to register.
PC console command
Press the tilde key (~) to open the cheat console, type the cheat word — for example TOOLUP — then press Enter. The console is not case sensitive. On some keyboard layouts the key sits above Tab and left of the number 1; if nothing opens, try the key immediately left of Backspace.
Controller button combo
On PlayStation and Xbox, cheats are entered as a button sequence during normal gameplay — no menu needed. Enter the buttons reasonably quickly and in exact order; pausing for more than a second or two resets the sequence. Directional inputs are on the D-pad, not the analogue stick.
In-game cell phone
Press Up on the D-pad (or T on PC) to bring up the phone, open Contacts, then dial the cheat number. Every cheat number begins with 1-999. This works on all platforms including PS5, PS4 and Xbox, and dialled cheats are saved to recent calls so you can re-trigger them with one press.

Before You Cheat — Good to Know
- Story mode only
- None of these cheats work in GTA Online. Rockstar treats cheating in Online as a bannable offence, so keep them in single-player.
- There is no money cheat
- GTA 5 has never had a money cheat on any platform. Anything claiming otherwise is a scam — the Lester assassination missions plus stock market investments are the fastest legitimate route.
- Save before you start
- Cheats disable achievements and trophies for the session. Make a clean save first, then reload it once you are done playing around.
- Three vehicles need a story unlock
- The Duke O'Death, Dodo and Kraken cheats only work after you have completed the relevant story event, so the code will do nothing until then.
